Editors

Human Biology Journal recognizes the important role of editors in maintaining the quality, integrity, and credibility of scholarly publishing. Editors are responsible for ensuring that manuscripts are evaluated fairly, consistently, and in accordance with the journal’s editorial standards.

Editorial Responsibilities

Editors are expected to:

  • Evaluate submitted manuscripts objectively and independently.
  • Assess manuscripts for relevance, scientific quality, originality, and suitability for the journal.
  • Select appropriate reviewers based on the subject and expertise required for each manuscript.
  • Maintain confidentiality throughout the editorial and peer-review process.
  • Consider reviewer comments carefully when making editorial decisions.
  • Communicate decisions and relevant information to authors in a clear and professional manner.
  • Identify and appropriately manage potential conflicts of interest.
  • Address concerns regarding research integrity, authorship, plagiarism, or other publication-related issues when they arise.

Fair and Independent Decision-Making

Editorial decisions should be based on the scientific and scholarly merits of a manuscript. Editors should not allow personal relationships, institutional affiliations, nationality, gender, seniority, or other unrelated considerations to influence editorial decisions.

Confidentiality

Editors must protect the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts, reviewer identities where applicable, reviewer reports, and editorial correspondence. Manuscript information should not be used for personal advantage or shared with unauthorized individuals.

Conflicts of Interest

Editors should disclose or manage any personal, professional, financial, or academic interests that could affect their impartiality. Where a conflict exists, the manuscript should be handled by an appropriate alternative editor when necessary.

Research Integrity

Editors should respond appropriately to credible concerns regarding possible misconduct or significant errors in submitted or published work. Where necessary, the journal may investigate concerns and take appropriate editorial action in accordance with its publication policies.

Editorial Independence

Editors are expected to exercise independent professional judgment and maintain the integrity of the editorial process. Editorial decisions should remain separate from commercial or financial considerations.
