Aim & Scope

AIM

The aim of Human Biology Journal is to advance scientific understanding of human biological systems, processes, and variation through the dissemination of rigorous and relevant scholarly research. The journal seeks to encourage investigations into the biological mechanisms that influence human growth, development, evolution, adaptation, health, and diversity. It aims to support scientific inquiry that improves understanding of human biological characteristics and the complex factors influencing human populations across different environments and stages of life.

SCOPE

Human Biology Journal covers a broad range of research areas concerning the biological characteristics, functions, development, and evolution of human beings. The journal considers studies addressing fundamental and applied questions in human biology, including the following areas:

  • Human Genetics and Genomics: Genetic variation, population genetics, genomic diversity, gene expression, and epigenetic mechanisms.
  • Human Evolution and Biological Anthropology: Human evolutionary processes, biological adaptation, human origins, and variation among populations.
  • Human Physiology: The functioning of human organ systems, physiological regulation, and biological responses to internal and external influences.
  • Human Growth and Development: Prenatal and postnatal development, growth patterns, biological maturation, and aging.
  • Human Population Biology: Biological diversity, population structure, demographic influences, and comparative studies of human populations.
  • Molecular and Cellular Human Biology: Cellular processes, molecular mechanisms, tissue functions, and their roles in human biological systems.
  • Reproductive Biology: Human reproductive functions, fertility, reproductive development, and associated biological mechanisms.
  • Human Health and Disease Biology: Biological mechanisms underlying human diseases, immune responses, physiological disorders, and variations in susceptibility to disease.
  • Nutrition and Metabolism: Metabolic regulation, nutritional influences, energy balance, and the biological effects of dietary factors.
  • Environmental Biology and Human Adaptation: The influence of environmental conditions, climate, ecological factors, and environmental exposures on human biology and adaptation.
  • Human Development and Population Health: Biological determinants of health, variation in health outcomes, and biological influences on human development across populations.
  • Computational and Interdisciplinary Human Biology: Bioinformatics, biostatistics, computational approaches, and interdisciplinary methods applied to human biological research.

The journal welcomes research employing appropriate experimental, observational, analytical, comparative, and computational methods. Interdisciplinary studies integrating human biology with related biological, biomedical, and social science disciplines are considered when they make a clear and substantive contribution to understanding human biological processes or variation.

Submissions are evaluated according to their scientific merit, originality, methodological rigor, clarity of presentation, and relevance to the journal’s aims and scope.
